Sweden banned brominated flame retardant?

Despite EU's exemption of brominated flame retardant, deca-BDE (Brominated Diphenyl Ethers) from its Restriction of Hazardous Substances legislation following the conclusion of its ten-year assessment, the Swedish government decided on 24 August to restrict deca-BDE in textiles, furniture and cables starting from 1 January 2007.

The European Brominated Flame Retardant Industry Panel was reported to have said that this unilateral action was a serious breach of EU law and risked being brought before the EU Court of Justice.
