New Clones to Boost Upstream Rubber Ops

Rubber which is a strategic commodity for Malaysia will see its upstream activities being revolutionised with the introduction of high-yielding 1Malaysia rubber clones and latex timber clones by the Malaysian Rubber Board (MRB).

By 2020, the targetted plan was to plant some 500,000ha of rubber in Sarawak and 300,000ha in Sabah.

In 2009, MRB introduced the 1Malaysia clone the RRIM 3001. This clone has a potential latex production of more than 3,000kg per hectare per year and is suitable for planting on a commercial basis including for the rubber forest plantation programmes especially in Sabah and Sarawak,

A Rubber and Latex Technologist, John Woon began his professional education in Polymer Science and Technology (Plastics and Rubber Technology) in 1968. He continued his study and training in England and worked for International Synthetic Rubber Company Ltd (Eni), UK in 1970's.
He joined the world's biggest producer of Prevulcanised Natural Rubber Latex and specialty latex compounds, Revertex Malaysia (Now a key member of the global Synthomer family) in 1981 and was actively involved in the marketing of a wide range of synthetic resins, polymers (for the coating and adhesive industries) and world renowned specialty natural rubber latex and compounds. He headed the Technical Department of the Natural Rubber Division of Revertex Malaysia until 2004.
Now a Latex and Rubber Consultant with satisfied clients across the globe, he is a member of Plastics and Rubber Institute, Malaysia, ABE(UK), ICM(UK) and had also been a member in ASTM (International) Committee D11.

9) John, I have such faith in your system. Anyone can take a full 8 weeks to check your report on recommended remedial actions. Put it to work in his factory that produce any latex dipped products. If he cannot solve at least some of their daily problems using your strategies and techniques, he should come to me and I’d show him what I’ve learnt from you! In the incredibly unlikely event that he still doesn’t make any headway, I’d volunteer to pay him the money that he has invested in your report!
10)John was extremely helpful in explaining the chemistry and processes involved in latex reactions.
