Natural Rubber Making a Serious Comeback in The Region

Long perceived as a smallholder's crop, natural rubber has transcended into a hot commodity among the major world plantation players. In the past five-to-seven years, many players are making serious investment in the cultivation and also acquisitions of rubber plantations in South-East Asia and Africa.

The latest is Olam International Ltd, a commodity supplier partly-owned by Singapore's Temasek Holdings, which will initially invest about US$183mil in 28,000ha rubber plantations via a joint venture with the Gabon government, with the possibility of expanding to 50,000ha in the future.....Click HERE to read the whole article.

A Rubber and Latex Technologist, John Woon began his professional education in Polymer Science and Technology (Plastics and Rubber Technology) in 1968. He continued his study and training in England and worked for International Synthetic Rubber Company Ltd (Eni), UK in 1970's.
He joined the world's biggest producer of Prevulcanised Natural Rubber Latex and specialty latex compounds, Revertex Malaysia (Now a key member of the global Synthomer family) in 1981 and was actively involved in the marketing of a wide range of synthetic resins, polymers (for the coating and adhesive industries) and world renowned specialty natural rubber latex and compounds. He headed the Technical Department of the Natural Rubber Division of Revertex Malaysia until 2004.
Now a Latex and Rubber Consultant with satisfied clients across the globe, he is a member of Plastics and Rubber Institute, Malaysia, ABE(UK), ICM(UK) and had also been a member in ASTM (International) Committee D11.

9) John, I have such faith in your system. Anyone can take a full 8 weeks to check your report on recommended remedial actions. Put it to work in his factory that produce any latex dipped products. If he cannot solve at least some of their daily problems using your strategies and techniques, he should come to me and I’d show him what I’ve learnt from you! In the incredibly unlikely event that he still doesn’t make any headway, I’d volunteer to pay him the money that he has invested in your report!
