Marl, Germany -- PolymerLatex is increasing prices for the NBR latex product range worldwide by 80 USD per tonne wet effective from 1st April 2009. According to the company, the price increase is necessary to offset the continuous rise in raw material costs for Acrylonitrile. Further price increases can not be ruled out, as Butadiene is expected to remain in tight supply world wide.

Dear Mr. John Woon..I am a student from local university studying the different of NBR and NR latex..I want to ask a question on NBR and NR latex..Is it possible to mix this 2 kind of latex? Is there any possiblity that the mixture will be unstable and form lumps or sedimentation?hope you can answer my question..TQVM
Dear Ismail,
As the rubber particles of Nitrile latex are very much smaller than those of the natural rubber latex, there is a tendency of the Nitrile rubber particles to "rob" away the stabilisers from the Natural rubber particles i.e. desorption of the surfactants from NR latex to Nitrile latex. This would result in the instability of the blend.
You therefore have to pre-stabilise the NR latex well before mixing it with Nitrile latex. Also, pH of Nitrile latex should be adjusted to that of the NR latex before blending.

John Woon
